HUNTSVILLE -- After m onths of budget cutbacks and position rearrangements, the Huntsville School Board agreed unanimously to hire Eric Miller as Huntsville High School vice principal. Miller will replace the recently married Daisy (Dyer ) Duer, who took a position in another district.

Miller has 17 years experience mostly in the Green Forest and Harrison school districts. The 42-year-old has a daughter who will be a sophomore at HHS.

Other hires included Tracy Jones, St. Paul coach and P. E. teacher; Davina Eaton, Intermediate; and five new bus drivers. Five bus drivers and one primary teacher gave their resignations.

Plans were made for the September meeting to be the annual report to the public. It was also planned that the November regular meeting would be held on the campus of the St. Paul schools.

Superintendent Shelby Sisemore said he hoped to plan a four-hour in-service for board members at the district. Sisemore stated that the current seven members on the board brought over 55 years of experience with them, and said he felt they deserved an in-service different than the same one they had all attended in Little Rock the last several years.

All the principals gave updates on their respective campuses with all stating they were preparing for the teachers return on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and students on Aug. 20.

A WATCH Dog dad welcome program will be held in conjunction with primary and intermediate open house on Monday, Aug. 18, with all dads invited to drop by and have a hot dog with soft drink and sign up for the important volunteer program.

The Madison County Library Board petitioned the district to enter into an interlocal agreement to open a public library at St. Paul. The board agreed unanimously.
