Jenny Wood is the new president of the Pea Ridge School Board. Board members elected new officers with the installation of new board member Darin Wright.
Rick Webb, elected in 2002 and president since 2005, stepped down saying it was time for a change.
Mark Davis was elected vice president, Clark Tyndall was named secretary.
Webb presented a plaque to out-going board member DiAnna Wallace thanking her for her service to the district.
The Legislative audit report was presented by Mike Van Dyke, superintendent.
A change in teaching style was addressed by Bonnie Fullmer, curriculum coordinator, who explained that whereas the adults in the room were probably more familiar with text-book driven teaching, the current style is to use "frameworks."
"Textbooks are more a resource for us," Fullmer said, explaining that money previously used for textbooks is now used for building classroom libraries and other resources. She said research is now done on the Internet.
An addendum to the student policy handbook addressing non-custodial parents picking up children and visiting children was approved by the board.
In other business, the board • Accepted the resignation of Pamela Guyll, part-time cafeteria worker • Hired John Fisher, maintenance step 4 on the salary schedule; and Pamela Sue Dye, cafeteria worker.
