Young 'Hawks still winning

Sporting a 4 and 0 record, the fourth-grade Blackhawks may have thought they had the day off against the three and one West Fork Tigers Saturday, Oct. 4. After the first offensive series for the 'Hawks, they knew the Tigers had come to play. For the first time this year the 'Hawks were unable to score on their first series. That turned out to be bad news for the Tigers as a fired up defense led by Duncan Truesdell and Zane Holley pushed back the Tigers for 3 yards of offense in the first half. Truesdell led all tacklers with eight, Holley with six, Michael Schleisman and Chandler Tidwell each with four, Jake Henry, Seth Trammell, Jacob Torres, Easton Lane, Cole Wright and Britton Caudill all had two tackles.
The only turnover by the Tigers was grabbed by Brandon Johnson on a fumble recovery. Other tacklers were Kamden Boyd, Beau German, Jonathan Pinto, Aron Tuszynski, Clayton Brown and Brett Scott. The defense held the Tigers to 38 yards total offense and kept their unscored upon record in tact.
On offense, the 'Hawks scored three of the four times they had the ball, time ran out on their fifth possession as they were driving with great running by Trammell, Clayton Brown, Torres and George Tyree. Leading the way on the ground was Schleisman with seven carries for 113 yards and a touchdown, Tidwell had nine carries for 52 yards and a 2 point conversion, Caudill had four carries for 40 yards and one touchdown, Cole Wright had four carries with 20 yards and a 2 point conversion. Wright was also 2 for 3 passing, hitting Logan Johnson in the end zone for a two point conversion and Landon Rhine on a 10 yard curl route for a big first down.
Truesdell finished the scoring, powering his way for a touchdown on one of his three carries for 12 yards. The 'Hawks rolled up 271 yards total offense making it 5 and 0 and still unscored upon.
