Firefighters cooking breakfast today to benefit programs

The Fayetteville Fire Depar tment will host its annual pancake breakfast from 5-11 a.m. today.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet is open to the public. Admission is $ 5. Kids younger than 6 eat free.

Money raised from the event will support a variety of projects and causes sponsored by the Fire Department, including a Fayetteville youth baseball team, a Fayetteville Parks and Recreation program, girls softball team and paying food and veterinarian bills for Sparky, the department's dog. Donations also go to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

In addition to pancakes, the breakfast will feature sausage, bacon, milk, juice and coffee. The event will take place at the department's Central Fire Station, 303 W. Center St.
