Rogers man gets 35 years for Subway, hotel robberies

A Rogers man was sentenced to 35 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction on Wednesday for robbing a Subway and Holiday Inn Express in Fayetteville.
Robert James Rawlings, 32, pleaded guilty to theft of property and two counts of robbery in a negotiated plea before 4 th Judicial District Circuit Judge William Storey. He also received a suspended sentence of 15 years.
A red hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap used in the Holiday Inn robbery on Dec. 16 were found in Rawlings ’ vehicle along with the money presumably stolen from the hotel, according to Sgt. Shannon Gabbard of the Fayetteville Police Department.
During the hotel and restaurant robberies, Rawlings reportedly demanded money and told victims he had a gun, but police never found a gun.
