Bank donates to Community Foundation The Bank of Fayetteville president and chief executive officer Mary Beth Brooks and Bank of Fayetteville employees presented a check for $ 5, 000 to Fayetteville Foundation President and CEO Becky Brink and Fayetteville Community Foundation board members Aug. 18 at the Bank of Fayetteville Main Branch lobby on 1 S. Block St. The bank donated the money to support programs and organizations that enhance every aspect of life in the Fayetteville area. Zinke appointed to foundation board Marjorie L. Zinke of Fayetteville has been appointed to the Ozark Guidance Foundation Board of Trustees. After retiring from the Department of Human Services in 1999, Zinke began serving on the Ozark Guidance Governing Board. “ Marge has many years of experience working with nonprofit organizations and with the Department of Human Services. This experience, coupled with her own personal experiences with the mental health system, make her uniquely qualified to serve our foundation board. She is a tireless worker and will do whatever it takes to further the mission of Ozark Guidance and the foundation, ” reported Dr. Keith Vire, governing board chairman. As a trustee, Zinke will assist the foundation in new resource development to fund the Ozark Guidance mission of providing high quality, cost-effective mental health care services to the citizens of Northwest Arkansas. Celebration held
for artist A drop-in celebration for longtime Fayetteville artist Virginia Cammack on her 97 th birthday will be from 2-4 p. m. Sept. 7 at the Clarion Inn, 1255 Shiloh Drive in Fayetteville. Cammack is well-known for her age-variant art classes. Throughout her career she has taught children from her home, an adult education art class at Fayetteville High School’s West Campus and an art class for senior citizens at Hillcrest Towers. Though she no longer teaches, she continues to paint and draw from her home, adding to her personal collection of artwork. All family, friends, and former art students are invited to participate in the celebration of Cammack’s life. The family requests no gifts.
Pajama drive to kick off conference Red Ball Productions, a local portable and modular display solutions and convention services provider, will hold a pajama drive titled “ Helen’s Pajama Party to Protect Women ” at this year’s Northwest Arkansas Business Women’s Conference at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers. The pajamas will be donated to the Benton County Women’s Shelter and Washington County’s Peace at Home Family Shelter, two local shelters that serve 600-plus homeless and abused women and children each year. Founder of Helen’s Pajama Party, Kelly Sargent, president of Brainstorm Marketing, established “ Helen’s Pajama Party to Protect Women ” in memory of her mother. Her efforts have resulted in the collection of more than 3, 000 sets of new pajamas for distribution to shelters throughout Iowa. “ We wanted to supplement Kelly’s efforts and offered to bring her program with us to Northwest Arkansas, and NWA Business Women’s Conference. ” said Amanda Phipps, designer at Red Ball Productions. Attendees wishing to participate in the drive may bring a pair of new-with-tags pajamas, in women’s sizes small to 2 X / XXL, to the “ Helen’s Pajama Party” exhibit sponsored by Red Ball Productions during show hours on Sept. 30. Donations will also be accepted throughout September at Curves locations in Fayetteville, Siloam Springs and Springdale and Red Ball Productions at 228-C S. 40 th Street in Springdale. Vorsanger awarded for community service Fred Vorsanger was honored Aug. 12 at the annual Mental Health council of Arkansas convention in Hot Springs for his years of service to people with mental illness in Northwest Arkansas.
Vorsanger was recognized for his commitment to the growth and continued financial success of Ozark Guidance. He was also praised for his role in the growth of the foundation’s funds through his personal efforts and diligence in communicating and working with local donors and family foundations in Northwest Arkansas.
During his tenure on the Ozark Guidance Foundation Board, Vorsanger contributed countless volunteer hours hosting foundation fundraising events, such as golf tournaments, dinners and, most recently, a successful butterfly release.
