By Randy Moll randym @ nwanews. com GENTRY ó The new Gentry Public Library building will be featured in the Architectural Record this fall.

Professional photographs have been taken and Jane Kolleeny, a reporter for the magazine was in the library Monday, interviewing the libraryís architect, Marlon Blackwell, and the library board chairman, Jim Furgason.

The issue to include the Gentry library will feature architectural projects and designs with a humanitarian design. Gentryís library was chosen because of its use of a historic downtown building, its design which preserves the building but adds some new elements and its service to the community of Gentry and beyond.

Also chosen for the issue were a community center constructed in Greensburg, Kan., following the devastating tornado, and a project in England.

Kolleeny called the library building ìa gem in the downtown districtî and ìbeautiful. î

The Gentry Public Library building has also been nominated as a finalist in the American Institute of Architects awards. The winning designs will receive awards in October at Hot Springs.

The building will also be submitted to the National Library Awards, according to Blackwell.

Architectural Record is an American monthly magazine dedicated to architecture and interior design, published by Mc-Graw-Hill Construction in New York City. It is over 110 years old. While the magazine is aimed at professional architects and engineers with news, commentary, criticism and continuing education sections, it features numerous articles exploring cutting edge designs by leading architects with glossy photos and articles that are accessible to non-experts. The magazine holds a close relationship with the American Institute of Architects, notably through AIA continuing education sections offered in the magazine and on its Web site.
