DECATUR ó Even though the other driver was at fault, Irenio Palacios drove off after his sport utility vehicle was hit by another car at the four-way stop in Decatur on Sept. 27.
The other driver, Wanda Reynolds, told police she was traveling north on Main Street and came to a complete stop at the intersection. When she proceeded through the intersection she hit Palacios vehicle near the back door.
A witness, Jason Tucker, told Decatur police officer Jeannie Yates the vehicle was a black Yukon with silver lettering on the back window and that after the accident it went through the Decatur General Store parking lot, across the viaduct and turned onto Grant Street.
After making sure Reynolds was getting medical attention, Yates went to Palaciosí house and asked to see his Yukon. She found a large dent in the rear passenger side door. Palacios told Yates the woman had hit him while he was traveling through the intersection.
He was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and for driving without a license. Reynoldsí vehicle had a large dent in the front bumper and the grill was torn off.
