Homecoming

Decatur High School’s homecoming football game is this week. Events will begin with a junior high football game on Oct. 9, followed by a pep rally. Coronation will be at 6: 30 p. m., Friday, Oct. 10, followed by the homecoming game at 7 p. m. Fall Festival

The elementary school Fall Festival will be held at the Northside Elementary school from 6 to 8 p. m., Oct. 30. The elementary school Parent Teacher Organization will be meeting at the school at 6 p. m., Oct. 9, to discuss final plans for the Fall Festival, and all parents are encouraged to come to the meeting. The Decatur High School Dance Divas are hosting a dance camp for children, ages 3 to 12, from 3: 20 to 5: 20 p. m., Oct. 27 through Oct. 30. Students will be performing with the Divas during half-time at the Oct. 31 football game. The fee for the camp is $ 40 and will include after-school snacks, free admission to the game and a Bulldog tutu. The entry deadline is Oct. 23. The Decatur Booster Club is planning the First Annual Fall Coed Softball Tournament to be held on Oct. 18 and 19 at the Edmiston Ball Fields. The tournament will be double-elimination and players must be at least 13 to participate. Entry fees are $ 100 and the registration deadline is Oct. 13. The high school Family, Career and Community Leaders of America are sponsoring a coat drive to benefit people in Benton County. They will be collecting clean, slightly-used coats in good condition. There are drop boxes at the high school, middle school, elementary school and at Decatur General Store. City council

Regular meetings of the city council are held at 6 p. m., the second Monday of each month, in the council room at City Hall. For more information, call 752-3912. Fall clean-up

The fall citywide clean up will be held Thursday, Oct. 16. Bulky waste items can be put out at the curb with regular trash for pick-up. For more information on which items will be picked up, call city hall at 752-3912. Town hall meetings

The Decatur School District will be holding town hall meetings in place of school board meetings to keep the community informed. The meetings will be held in the elementary school cafeteria at 7 p. m., the third Monday of each month. Decatur Schools fund

The Decatur Education Foundation is asking alumni and community members to make a contribution to help keep Decatur schools open. Donations are tax deductible and can be made in person at the Decatur State Bank or by mail. Checks should be made out to the Decatur Education Foundation and mailed to P. O. Box 38, Decatur, AR 72722.
