BENTONVILLE — Republican Women of Bentonville President Sarah Davidson urged members of the GOP club to do all they can to help the party rebound in the future from many defeats in federal and state elections on Nov. 4.

“ This is a time when we have to work twice as hard, if not 10 times harder. Our job up until Nov. 4 was tough, but it’s tougher now, ” Davidson said.

The club’s first meeting after the elections was Nov. 13 at the Bentonville Public Library.

Club members planned community service activities for 2009 and beyond. The club will select among many community projects in which members will participate, Davidson said.

Described by National Federation of Republican Women officials under the umbrella title “ Caring for America, ” the projects give a wide variety of choices to the club member wondering how best to be active in the community, she said.

Among other alternatives, Davidson said, club members may choose to do the following: • Apply for city, county or state boards and commissions; • Help shelters for abused women and children; • Honor local firefighters and law-enforcement officers and others; and • Donate books to local libraries.

Also, some club members should plan to attend a National Federation of Republican Women convention, set to begin Sept. 9 in Orlando, Fla., Davidson said.
