Avoca Christmas parade

The Avoca Christmas parade will be Dec. 6. Participants need to meet at Latham Cabinets, 819 Lester Lane in Avoca, at approximately 5 p. m.

Participants will line up and be judged prior to the parade. Award categories include the most unique entry, the biggest float, the most lights, the most Christmas spirit and the best entry overall. Floats, bands, horses, wagons, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post honor guards, vehicles, clubs, fire trucks, etc., are welcome to participate.

The parade will be one mile long and will end at Avoca Town Hall, 222 N. Old Wire Road. Call Ronna Smith at 633-8267. Bentonville Christmas parade

The Winter Wonderland parade will be from 11 a. m. to noon Dec. 6. A number of floats and walking entries will participate. Stick around afterward, because from 1 p. m. to 3 p. m. Dec. 6, a festival on the Bentonville Square will be held. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for portraits. Decatur Christmas parade

The Decatur Christmas parade will be at 6 p. m. Dec. 5. The theme is a “ Charlie Brown Christmas. ” Participants are encouraged to model their entry after their favorite Christmas cartoon. The parade lineup will be at 5 p. m. at City Hall. Santa Claus will pass out candy in the General Store parking lot after the parade.

“ Christmas Is My Home Town” is the theme of the Gentry Christmas parade on Dec. 13. It is sponsored by the Main Street Gentry Chamber of Commerce.

A concert on Main Street by Kyla Horton will begin at 5 p. m. Horton will be featured on a stage in front of Drs. Lamb and Stubbs ’ dental office. The parade lineup will be in front of Curran Feed at 5: 30 p. m., and the parade will start at 6: 30 p. m.

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce will award $ 100 in Christmas bucks to the winner of the following divisions: the Mayor’s Choice will be presented for the best music presentation; the Main Street Award will be presented for the entry that best depicts the theme; the Chamber Award will be presented for the entry with the best lights; and the Judges’Award will be presented for the best entry overall.

Santa Claus will ride on the Gentry Fire Department fire truck and will hand out treats in Carl Gym following the parade.

Many Gentry businesses also will host Christmas open houses with refreshments that day also. Pea Ridge Christmas parade

The Pea Ridge Christmas parade will start at 4: 30 p. m. Dec. 6.

Participants are to line up downtown on North Curtis Street at the old school grounds and will travel south on North Curtis, turn east on Lee Town Road and return north on North Davis Street for the lighting ceremony downtown. The parade theme is “ Red, White and Blue” in honor of Dec. 7 and the memory of Pearl Harbor. The parade is sponsored by Beta Alpha Sorority.

The Siloam Springs Christmas parade, hosted by the Heritage League, will be held Dec. 6 and will be dedicated to the memory of longtime parade participant and Santa’s helper Bill Ruble.

The parade will begin at 5: 30 p. m. at the intersection of Dogwood and Tulsa streets and will proceed east on Tulsa to Mount Olive, north on Mount Olive to Jefferson, east on Jefferson to South Maxwell, north on South Maxwell to Main and through downtown, ending at the Crown Hotel. Those interested in participating must complete a float entry form by Dec. 4.
