Fighting fire is one part of the duties the Bentonville Fire Department is trained and ready to handle on a daily basis. But as the old adage goes “ an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure ” and so it is with the BFD.
The first week of October traditionally features national Fire Prevention Week across the land with local fire departments spending a lot of extra hours conveying the message of fire prevention. In fact we’ve had the Smoke House out many times so far this year teaching kids how to be safe if their home catches on fire.
Right now is a good time to look your home or business over to check for possible fire and safety hazards that may have been overlooked. If you are not sure about doing a self check of your home or business give the BFD a call and ask for assistance in making out a check list of things to look for during an inspection.
The BFD will be presenting several program to a variety if civic, school and business groups during Fire Prevention Week, so stay tuned to one that may be in your area. This is your fire department so come by for a visit, just call first to make sure that we are not out helping a citizen is need.
If you take fire prevention seriously then we will probably never need to respond to your home or business for an emergency call but as always we will be standing by just in case.
