Keller leads Mounties to golf win

ALMA — Rogers senior Matt Keller and Fayetteville’s Eli Mattioli shared medalist honors, but the Mounties beat Fayetteville and Van Buren in a three-way match Wednesday.
The Mounties carded a ™ at Eagle Crest in Alma, topping the Bulldogs by three strokes. Van
Buren shot a 184. Keller and Mattioli each shot par 35 s on the front nine. Keller putted well during the match, coach Marcus Alexander said. “(Keller ) hasn’t dipped yet, ” he said. “ He’s been my most consistent player and has just been shooting low every time he goes out. “ His putter is on fire. ” Slade Hames shot a 38 and Jes Sanders and Wyatt Hively each shot 40 s to round out the Mounties’ scoring. Blake Beardon (39 ), Tripp Shields (41 ) and Christian Mills (41 ) scored for Fayetteville. The Mounties are back in action Monday for a match against Rogers Heritage at Prairie Creek. Emma Lavy was the medalist in the girls’ match, shooting a 34. Clancy Jones (39 ) and Katie Petrino (40 ) rounded out the Lady Bulldogs’ winning score of 113. Rogers finished eight strokes behind with a 121. Haley Sanders led Rogers with a 38 and Jill Kinslow (40 ) and Laura Beth DuBois (43 ) also scored. The Van Buren girls shot a 145.
