THURSDAY’S GAME : Central Missouri tops ATU

WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Arkansas Tech fell hard in its second and final nonconference game Thursday night, losing to Central Missouri 49-13 before a crowd of 5, 400 at Walton Stadium.
The Wonder Boys (1-1 ) had not lost a nonconference game since falling to Midwestern State 27-12 in the 2003 season opener.
Central Missouri took its first possession 40 yards and scored on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Eric Czerniewski to Glenn Milner.
Three minutes into the second quarter, the Mules (2-0 ) increased their lead on Milner’s 5-yard touchdown run that capped a 10-play, 79-yard drive.
That would be the first of three second-quarter touchdowns for the Mules.
Arkansas Tech responded, with Cole Barthel finding junior Landon Turner alone in the end zone for a 24-yard touchdown pass. Turner’s score came one play after Barthel connected with senior receiver Tracey Stiger for a 44-yard gain, Arkansas Tech’s longest offensive play.
The Wonder Boys finished with 400 yards of total offense on 58 plays. Barthel was 13 for 26 passing with 227 yards and 2 interceptions. Turner caught four passes for 99 yards, while Stiger had six catches for 74 yards. Stiger has now caught a pass in 20 consecutive games.
Junior running back Tim Childress ran for 69 yards on 10 carries.
